Ventura, California’s heavy metal heroes Night Demon are currently electrifying audiences around the world as they tour relentlessly in support of their 2023 magnum opus, Outsider. Along the way, the band have heard loud and clear from fans worldwide demanding physical copies of albums from Night Demon’s illustrious back catalog, including the legendary debut album Curse of the Damned and the incendiary follow-up, Darkness Remains. Unfortunately, both albums have been out of print (at least, in certain formats) for quite some time, leaving collectors’ desires unsatiated and unfulfilled. Night Demon decided they could no longer ignore these insistent, growing cries. So earlier this year, they answered the call by releasing Deluxe Editions of these seminal albums on their own Night Demon Records imprint for territories outside of Europe. On October 4, 2024, SPV/Steamhammer will proudly bring these new and improved Deluxe Editions of Curse of the Damned and Darkness Remains to European shores to the certain delight of vinyl and CD aficionados looking to round out their Night Demon collections.
Initially seeing the light of day in April 2017, Darkness Remains found Night Demon forcefully silencing any speculation of a sophomore slump or a one-album wonder. Darkness Remains delivered all the expected NWOBHM-inspired thrills and chills for the Night Demon faithful. It also represented a bold step forward, as the band honed their songwriting chops, developed more of an individual sound, sharpened their attack, and took some chances along the way. Heralded by the compelling lead single and video track “Welcome to the Night,” Darkness Remains also contains audience favorites and live set mainstays such as “Dawn Rider,” “Black Widow,” “Hallowed Ground,” and the haunting title track. The album took Night Demon to the next level both creatively and commercially, and represented a watershed moment in the trio’s storied career.
The 2024 Deluxe Edition of Darkness Remains presents the original album in its entirety, buttressed by a new remastering job courtesy of Night Demon six-stringer Armand John Anthony. In terms of extras, this version brings together a pair of songs lifted as bonus material for various territories on previous editions of the album, including a raucous cover of Queen’s “We Will Rock You” and a mighty run through Black Sabbath’s “Turn Up the Night.” The Deluxe Edition of Darkness Remains is available on marbled red/yellow vinyl, as well as CD packaged in a jewel case with an O card and poster.

Die aus dem kalifornischen Ventura stammenden Heavy Metal-Helden Night Demon sind derzeit mit ihrem 2023er Meisterwerk ‚Outsider‘ auf Welttournee und elektrisieren dabei die Fans rund um den Globus. Schon seit langem äußert ihre große internationale Anhängerschaft regelmäßig den Wunsch nach physischen Kopien von Alben aus dem hochwertigen Backkatalog der Band, darunter das legendäre Debütalbum ‚Curse Of The Damned‘ und dessen rebellischer Nachfolger ‚Darkness Remains‘. Leider sind beide Alben seit geraumer Zeit vergriffen – zumindest in bestimmten Formaten –, so dass der Wunsch der Sammler bislang unerfüllt geblieben ist. Night Demon haben daher entschieden, dass sie die beharrlichen, zunehmend lauter werdenden Forderungen nicht länger ignorieren können. Im Frühjahr 2024 haben sie, den Wunsch der Fans entsprechend, exklusive Deluxe-Editionen dieser bahnbrechenden Alben über ihr eigenes Plattenlabel ‚Night Demon Records‘ außerhalb Europas veröffentlicht. Zur großen Freude aller Vinyl- und CD-Liebhaber, die ihre Night Demon-Sammlungen unbedingt komplettieren möchten, wird Steamhammer/SPV die neuen und aufgewerteten Deluxe-Editionen von ‚Curse Of The Damned‘ und ‚Darkness Remains‘ am 4. Oktober 2024 auch in Europa herausbringen.
Als ‚Darkness Remains‘ im April 2017 das Licht der Welt erblickte, verstummten schlagartig sämtliche Spekulationen über einen eventuellen Qualitätseinbruch bzw. einem vermeintlichen Status als Eintagsfliege. Denn auch ‚Darkness Remains‘ lieferte den erhofften NWOBHM-inspirierten Nervenkitzel und begeisterte die Night Demon-Getreuen. Gleichzeitig wagte sich die Scheibe einen mutigen Schritt vorwärts, da die Musiker ihre Songwriting-Fähigkeiten verfeinern, einen noch individuelleren Sound entwickeln und ihre Waffen schärfen konnten, um bewusst ein paar kompositorische Risiken einzugehen. Mit der fabelhaften Single ‚Welcome To The Night‘ und dem dazugehörenden Videoclip startete auch ‚Darkness Remains‘ als Album, das zahlreiche Publikumslieblinge und Live-Set-Klassiker umfasst, wie etwa ‚Dawn Rider‘, ‚Black Widow‘, ‚Hallowed Ground‘ und der rasante Titeltrack ‚Darkness Remains‘. Das Album katapultierte Night Demon sowohl künstlerisch als auch kommerziell auf die nächste Entwicklungsstufe und war ein entscheidender Meilenstein in der Karriere der Band.
Die 2024er Deluxe Edition von ‚Darkness Remains‘ umfasst das Originalalbum in voller Länge, aufgewertet durch ein neues Remastering von Night Demon-Sechssaiter Armand John Anthony. Als zusätzliche Extras gibt es einige Songs, die bislang nur als territorial limitiertes Bonusmaterial früherer Albumversionen zu finden waren, darunter ein raues Cover von Queens ‚We Will Rock You‘ und eine kraftvolle Version von Black Sabbaths ‚Turn Up The Night‘. Erhältlich ist die Deluxe Edition von ‚Darkness Remains‘als marbled rot/gelbem Vinyl, zusätzlich gibt es die neue Version als CD in einem Jewelcase mit Schuber und Poster.
