Ventura, California’s heavy metal heroes Night Demon are currently electrifying audiences around the world as they tour relentlessly in support of their 2023 magnum opus, Outsider. Along the way, the band have heard loud and clear from fans worldwide demanding physical copies of albums from Night Demon’s illustrious back catalog, including the legendary debut album Curse of the Damned and the incendiary follow-up, Darkness Remains. Unfortunately, both albums have been out of print (at least, in certain formats) for quite some time, leaving collectors’ desires unsatiated and unfulfilled. Night Demon decided they could no longer ignore these insistent, growing cries. So earlier this year, they answered the call by releasing Deluxe Editions of these seminal albums on their own Night Demon Records imprint for territories outside of Europe. On October 4, 2024, SPV/Steamhammer will proudly bring these new and improved Deluxe Editions of Curse of the Damned and Darkness Remains to European shores to the certain delight of vinyl and CD aficionados looking to round out their Night Demon collections.
Originally released in January 2015, Curse of the Damned refined and expounded on Night Demon’s signature sound as debuted on their self-titled EP a few years earlier. It also inspired fanatical devotion amongst the heavy metal faithful, garnering widespread critical acclaim and being voted the #1 album of 2015 by listeners of WCJU’s Metal on Metal radio show in Cleveland, Ohio. To promote the record, Night Demon hit the killing road for the better part of two years, crisscrossing both sides of the Atlantic Ocean on multiple treks, as well as Mexico, Latin America and South America. With each successive tour, Night Demon’s reputation as a must-see live band grew exponentially, as did their fanbase. Curse of the Damned features many tracks that remain staples of the band’s live set to this day, including “Screams in the Night,” “The Howling Man,” and “Heavy Metal Heat,” as well as beloved deeper cuts like “Mastermind,” “Satan” and “Save Me Now.”
The 2024 Deluxe Edition of Curse of the Damned showcases the entire original album, freshly remastered by Night Demon guitarist Armand John Anthony. It also includes a pair of bonus tracks compiled from various prior editions, in the form of a cover of Riot’s “Road Racin’” and a re-recording of Night Demon’s classic “The Chalice” entitled simply “The Chalice ’15.” This special reissue of Curse of the Damned is available on blood-red vinyl, as well as CD housed in a jewel case with an O card and fold-out poster

Die aus dem kalifornischen Ventura stammenden Heavy Metal-Helden Night Demon sind derzeit mit ihrem 2023er Meisterwerk ‚Outsider‘ auf Welttournee und elektrisieren dabei die Fans rund um den Globus. Schon seit langem äußert ihre große internationale Anhängerschaft regelmäßig den Wunsch nach physischen Kopien von Alben aus dem hochwertigen Backkatalog der Band, darunter das legendäre Debütalbum ‚Curse Of The Damned‘ und dessen rebellischer Nachfolger ‚Darkness Remains‘. Leider sind beide Alben seit geraumer Zeit vergriffen – zumindest in bestimmten Formaten –, so dass der Wunsch der Sammler bislang unerfüllt geblieben ist. Night Demon haben daher entschieden, dass sie die beharrlichen, zunehmend lauter werdenden Forderungen nicht länger ignorieren können. Im Frühjahr 2024 haben sie, den Wunsch der Fans entsprechend, exklusive Deluxe-Editionen dieser bahnbrechenden Alben über ihr eigenes Plattenlabel ‚Night Demon Records‘ außerhalb Europas veröffentlicht. Zur großen Freude aller Vinyl- und CD-Liebhaber, die ihre Night Demon-Sammlungen unbedingt komplettieren möchten, wird Steamhammer/SPV die neuen und aufgewerteten Deluxe-Editionen von ‚Curse Of The Damned‘ und ‚Darkness Remains‘ am 4. Oktober 2024 auch in Europa herausbringen.
Ursprünglich im Januar 2015 erschienen hat ‚Curse Of The Damned‘ – nach der selbstbetitelten Debüt-EP von 2012 – den charakteristischen Night Demon-Sound endgültig manifestiert. Die Scheibe löste eine geradezu fanatische Begeisterung der Heavy Metal-Anhänger aus, erntete überall großartige Presse-Echos und wurde von den Hörern der WCJU-Radioshow ‚Metal on Metal‘ in Cleveland, Ohio zum besten Album des Jahres 2015 gewählt. Um das Werk angemessen zu promoten, tourten Night Demon fast zwei Jahre lang auf beiden Seiten des Atlantiks sowie in Mexiko, Lateinamerika und Südamerika. Mit jeder weiteren Tournee hat sich der Ruf von Night Demon als grandiose und überaus explosive Live-Band, die man unbedingt gesehen haben muss, ebenso rasant vergrößert wie die Zahl ihrer Fans. ‚Curse Of The Damned‘ umfasst viele Songs, die bis heute fester Bestandteil ihres Live-Sets sind, darunter ‚Screams In The Night‘, ‚The Howling Man‘ und ‚Heavy Metal Heat‘ sowie ebenso beliebte, eindringliche Stücke wie ‚Mastermind‘, ‚Satan‘ und ‚Save Me Now‘.
Auf der 2024er Deluxe Edition von ‚Curse Of The Damned‘ findet man das komplette Originalalbum, neu remastert von Night Demon-Gitarrist Armand John Anthony. Sie enthält zusätzlich einige Bonustracks aus unterschiedlichen früheren Editionen, wie etwa die Coverversion von Riots ‚Road Racin`‘ und eine Neuaufnahme des Night Demons-Klassikers ‚The Chalice‘ mit dem prägnanten Titel ‚The Chalice ´15‘. Die exklusive Neuauflage von ‚Curse Of The Damned‘ kommt auf blutrotem Vinyl auf den Markt, zusätzlich gibt es die Edition als CD im Jewelcase mit einem Schuber inklusive eines ausklappbaren Posters.
