Schwer beeindruckend!“
Metal-heads.de 9/10: „….die Platte ist ein Juwel. So arrangiert man Songs.“
„Prophecy“ showcases REACH’s knack for weaving dramatic narratives into their music. Drawing inspiration from real-life events, the band infuses dark and captivating twists reflecting contemporary issues. Filled with a rich tapestry of influences spanning various genres, the new album captivates with its diversity.
Ludvig Törner, the band’s lead vocalist, shares his thoughts: „‚PROPHECY‚ is our 4th studio album and we’re, once again, trying our best to test the patience of our listeners. As musicians performing the songs of Reach, we don’t want any song to be boring. The stories told through the lyrics carry themes similar to previous Reach releases. Tragedy, horror, evil, nightmares and fiction are themes we are comfortable writing about. Somehow the songs get progressively darker as time goes by. Could be because we’re getting old and grumpy. Or just because Evil is more exciting than good.“
REACH, consisting of Ludvig Törner, Marcus Johansson, and Soufian Ma’Aoui, continues to evolve their musical prowess. Collaborating with acclaimed music producer Christian Schneider in crafting „Prophecy„, they’ve honed their distinctive sound, blending playful elements with raw musical talent. This particular trademark comes to life during their explosive live shows, where their passion for music and improvisation create unforgettable experiences for new and returning audiences alike.
Törner elaborates on the makings of the album: „We took a different approach for this album. The songs and lyrics are written by me and arranged by the whole band along with our Producer, Chris Snyder. We loved Chris’s work on our previous single ‚Ängel‚, which he produced, mixed and mastered. His vision for Reach was to record the base of the songs live, as the trio Reach, without all the extra stuff. If the songs were good at their core, then all the choirs, strings and extra production would just act to enhance them. We loved the approach and how it turned out. This album really reflects all three of us, perhaps more so than ever before.“
Building on the momentum from their successful European tour with H.E.A.T., REACH has witnessed a surge in popularity, with their singles enjoying extensive airplay across major radio stations in Germany and Sweden. „Prophecy“ stands as a testament to their artistry and creativity, demonstrating their willingness to explore beyond genre boundaries.
Eager listeners can look forward to enjoying the highly anticipated album „Prophecy“ on all major streaming platforms starting March 29, 2024 via Swedish Boutique Label Icons Creating Evil Art, promising an immersive journey into REACH’s musical world.
„
Mama Mama„
Frontmann und Songwriter Ludvig Turner erzählt uns über das düstere lyrische Thema der Single: „Mama Mama is one of the darkest songs from the new album. It’s written from the perspective of a kid seeing his parents fight, believing it’s his fault. Classic… Mom beats dad to death and the kid worries what’s gonna happen next. It all ends with him beating mommy to death.“
„
A Million Lives„
REACH are no strangers to incorporating dramatics into their music, often taking inspiration from real life events while adding a dark, intriguing twist.
„A Million Lives“ is certainly no exception! Touching on the helplessness that seeps into the younger generations and how desperate rage can turn to action with catastrophic consequences, this song was written in the perspective of a young kid about to commit a crime. Rocking like a ship in a storm, the new track starts by enchanting it’s listener in an almost crooning manner, before it blooms out into a true rock anthem with strong gutting lyrics. Vocalist
Ludvig Turner tells us how the horrific trend of school shootings partly inspired the song. „School shootings are so freaking dark and terrible in just every way and the increase of them are scary as hell. Everyone involved is a victim and I wanted to write a song trying to enter the stage before. Listen to the song as a consciousness desperately trying to stop this act from happening. But to no avail…“
„
Eviga Natt“ translates to „Eternal Night“ and speaks on the laments of everyday life and the dream of escaping them into a reality of your own creation. As autumn comes to Scandinavia, the sun-hours grow scares and the insistent darkness is known to have big effects on the public’s overall health. So much so that the term „Winter Depression“ is a common phenomenon. REACH is known to incorporate a dramatic flare into their music, both musically and in their lyrics, often taking inspiration from real life events and adding a dark, intriguing twist. ‚
Eviga Natt‚ is certainly no exception! Crooning and melodic like a lullaby, the song lures the listener into a false sense of safety, which is greatly contradicted by the restless, all but delirious lyrics. Front singer and songwriter
Ludvig Turner tells us: „Eviga Natt is a song about wanting to escape reality, with its responsibilities and commitments, into a world where you can be who ever you want, live how ever you want and rule how ever you want – with no consequences. The night stands for darkness and in „Eternal Night“ that darkness symbolizes uncertainties, anxiety and fear. My character suffers from the symptoms sloth, wrath, envy and greed. The song tells a story starting in bleak resignation and ending in blunt destruction.“
„
Little Dreams“ which constitutes a true rock anthem with its melodic chorus and powerful delivery. In true Reach spirit, as the band is known to incorporate a dramatic flare into their tracks, a dark story hides behind the heavy riffs of the new song. Frontman and songwriter
Ludvig Turners tells us: „Those of you who´ve listened to Reach before know that we often have a dark theme surrounding the lyrics and the stories within our songs. This song is about a man who knows he’s about to die and that falling asleep will ensure this. He struggles to stay awake. He even tries to deal with The Sandman, but fails in the end. There is rarely a happy ending to a Reach song.“
