When you start guitar playing and do you remember your first guitar?
I started at the age of 12. I think my first guitar was a horrible brand named Hondo, and it had a big dragon painted on the body.
What are your influences and which guitar players are your faves?
When I started out, it was all about Ac/DC. I had a songbook from the band with a cassette with Angus`voice telling the listener about the songs and how to play the riffs. My skills were extremely limited at the time, but it had a huge impact on my unstoppable willing to play.
How many guitars do you own and what are your favorite models?
Not sure, but more than twenty, less than thirty. I love my Les Pauls, one is a Greco and one is the Edwards series by ESP. I have quite a few Gibson guitars as well, but they dont sound as well as the two I just mentioned. I also play a Strat these days by the brand Diego with a Seymour Duncan Hot Rail Pickup that sounds killer.
What do you think makes the perfect guitar and amp?
The one that works the best for me right now is a classic JMC800 along with the Edwards LP.
How do you feel about the question of modeler or tube amp?
Dunno. I´m old-school when it comes to these things. I have absolutely no interest in an amp that offers a thousand different amps all in one box. It’s like having a hundred pretty girls in front of you, and you spend all day trying to find then one you like the most, rather than having a great time with the one you find absolutely amazing.
Which guitars and amps were used on the new album or for recordings?
I used my JCM quite a lot. I also used a really cool fender twin combo for a lot of overdubs and leads. I used this really cool Guild Polara S-100 guitar, that always work a lot better in the studio than live. That one and my old Gibson SG jr was taken into the loop quite a lot.
When you only can choose one guitar, which one will you take?
Then I would go for the Edwards Les Paul.
