When you start guitar playing and do you remember your first guitar?
I actually played bass guitar first for two years before I switched over to guitar. I was probably 12 or 13 when I started. The bass and the guitar were both Squier models by Fender.
What are your influences and which guitar players are your faves?
My main influences come from guitar players of the 1980s. These influences come from all types of genres. I also love 70s jazz fusion guitar as well.
How many guitars do you own and what are your favorite models?
Currently I have 7 total. My favorite ones to play are my Pro Series Rhoads, and Soloist SL3 from Jackson.
What do you think makes the perfect guitar and amp?
Since I’ve started playing in bands, and playing shows, it’s going to be the Peavey 5150 II, 6505+, or EVH III. They’re just so reliable, powerful and the best sounding for what I like to do.
How do you feel about the question of modeler or tube amp?
I think in a couple of years it’s going to be very hard to differentiate the two when it comes to hearing it on a recording. I personally always want a tube amp for live shows because of the stage volume, and power it provides.
Which guitars and amps were used on the new album or for recordings?
The rhythm guitar tracks were done with my Pro Series Rhoads, through a 6505+ head, running through a combination of speaker cabinets. The cabinets we used were vintage hi-watts, Mesa, and vintage Marshalls The head was also boosted with a TS 808 and 6 band eq in the front, with a chorus and delay pedal in the effects loop.
When you only can choose one guitar, which one will you take?
Whatever one is hanging on the wall. I’d be too lazy to pull out all my cases and go through them all lol.
