This article series is about the tools of popular guitarists. What are their favorite guitars and how is it related to them? This time with Chris Logue (Savage Grace).

When you start guitar playing and do you remember your first guitar?

I started playing guitar in 1978 when I was 16 years old. My first guitar was a Gibson Les Paul standard Tobacco Burst Serial Number 171729

What are your influences and which guitar players are your faves?

My first influence was Ted Nugent. Then in 79 I heard Michael Schenker and he became my biggest influence. I also Like Albert King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Paul Quinn, Tipton, Downing

How many guitars do you own and what are your favorite models?

I have a Dean Michael Schenker Black and white V and a Schechter natural wood tone strat. We are currently looking for guitar endorsement deals.

What do you think makes the perfect guitar and amp?

The perfect metal guitar sound to me is on the song „chain gang woman“ on the Malice license to Kill album. I always played 50 watt modified 1977 Marshalls but I would like to try Engls and other amps. I like EMG 81 pickups but gear is not that important to me as long as the sound is there.

How do you feel about the question of modeler or tube amp?

I have only played through tube amps on stage. I have used amp sims to write songs and we did use reamping on the Sign of the cross album. I am very new to this type of technology and I really dont know enough about it.

Which guitars and amps were used on the new album or for recordings?

I used my Dean Schenker on all the guitars through vintage 1977 50 watt Marshalls through 4 x 12 cabinets loaded with Mackenzie speakers then reamped by Roland Grapow.

When you only can choose one guitar, which one will you take?

I will take MY Dean Schenker V.
