When you start guitar playing and do you remember your first guitar?
When I was about 12 years old, my dad plays keyboards and a little bit of guitar so there was always a guitar around the house. The first guitar I got as a gift was a black Jackson Hardtail.
What are your influences and which guitar players are your faves?
The first guitar players that inspired me as I was learning were Jimi Hendrix, James Hetfield, Slash, Tony Iommi, Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman. Later on I discovered the genius of Ritchie Blackmore and Dick Dale. EVH gets an honorable mention of course…
How many guitars do you own and what are your favorite models?
I must have 10-15 at this point, I’ve lost count haha. But my favorites are my 1978 Les Paul Deluxe Goldtop, 1981 Gibson Les Paul Custom Silverburst and my custom Jailbreak Z-80 Flying V. But honestly I love all of them equally…
What do you think makes the perfect guitar and amp?
Anything that goes to 11
How do you feel about the question of modeler or tube amp?
I’m starting to dabble in that world and think they are getting to the point where they are close enough for live use. But I wouldn’t use them without going through a guitar cabinet.
Which guitars and amps were used on the new album or for recordings?
The guitars I used were the Les Paul Custom and the Jailbreak for rhythms. A lot of the solos and leads were done with a 50th Anniversary Stratocaster. Amps that were used we’re a Jcm 800 2203 50 watt, a modified 1968 Marshall Super Bass and a Ceriatone Chupacabra
