When you start guitar playing and do you remember your first guitar?
I think I started around when I was 14 or 15 if I remember correctly. My childhood friend he had some crappy strat like guitar he got from selling magazines here in Sweden and he traded it to me for some PlayStation 2 stuff since he wanted to play the bass instead. I sold that guitar to a local punk band back in the day and they smashed it on stage. I had to fight for a piece of it and I still have that piece somewhere stored in my mom’s garage.
What are your influences and which guitar players are your faves?
When I started really learning to play guitar, I mostly played along to The Misfits songs. But that shifted and I got more into the classic hard rock and heavy metal stuff, so Jimmy Page was one that I really liked a lot early on. Eddie Van Halen has always been one of my favourites even though my playing style is nothing like his. My current favourite player is my guitar partner in Screamer Jon Morheim!
How many guitars do you own and what are your favorite models?
I think I have around 7 but I mainly only use 3 that are my favourites. My favourite model is my Gibson Explorer I’ve used that since 2013 and it’s been my main guitar ever since I got it. I have a Gibson SG that I’ve used a long time and a Fender strat that is my most rencent guitar that I’m really fond of.
What do you think makes the perfect guitar and amp?
For me a good guitar needs to be built like a machine it needs to be able to survive day to day on the road and always be reliable. When it comes to amps, I usually don’t like anything that isn’t Orange or Marshall. But if an amp sounds good I’ll use it if I need to haha.
How do you feel about the question of modeler or tube amp?
I love tube amps and that’s something that I will always use, but recently I’ve been looking into getting a modeler as well. A couple of years ago I would have probably said that I would never get a modeler but with the recent stuff the technology is so good that I don’t really care anymore.
Which guitars and amps were used on the new album or for recordings?
For our upcoming album Kingmaker (out jan 13th 2023) we used a bunch of guitars everything from a Solar with evertune to Fenders and Gibsons. We used Lundgren guitar pickups in the guitars. The main amps for all the rhythm guitar tracks were a Marshall jcm 800 from 86 or 87 through a Orange 4×12 loaded with Celestion v30s. We had the Fredman mic technique with 2 Shure SM57 for micing on one of the speakers and a Shure Sm7b on another, plus a room mic. Then we used an Orange Rockerverb MKII and a modded Peavey 5150 for leads and melodies.
