„Cyclone“ is about the war that often wages within oneself, with the band saying, „It’s about how an old version of yourself kept fighting you, especially referring to depression and how draining it can be to avoid turning back into that old version and trying to represent some sort of rebirth of yourself, focusing on the self-conflict. A cyclone tries to rip you apart and invade your peace and can be almost impossible to fight against.“
The themes of mental health, growing and healing, distancing yourself from past versions of yourself have long been a part of Future Palace’s music and that continues with „Cyclone„. The song’s energy effectively mirrors the effort it takes to prevent yourself from reverting to the old you that you would like to leave behind.
The band shares, „We used a sample with the word ‚amen,‘ which started just as an and was later interpreted by as a sign of rebirth — amen and goodbye to your old self.“
It also boasts the most monstrous breakdown the band has ever put to tape.
Future Palace are also embarking on its first-ever tour of North America this fall. All dates are below.
