When you start bass playing and do you remember your first bass?
I was about 14 years old when I started playing bass and guitar, my first ‘proper’ bass was a short scale Fender Mustang.
What are your influences and which bass players are your favs?
The moment that made me decide to play bass rather than guitar was when I heard John Wetton’s bass playing on the song ‘Burlesque’ by the band Family. Other favourite bassists would have to include Pino Palladino, James Jamerson, Chris Squire, Trevor Bolder and many others…
How many basses do you own and what are your favorite models?
I currently have 6 basses, but my favourite is definitely my 23 year old Musicman Stingray V.
What do you think makes the perfect bass and amp?
For me it would have to be my Stingray with either an Ashdown or Ampeg amp rig.
Which basses and amps were used on the new album or for recordings?
Musicman Stingray V, Rickenbacker 4003 through an Ampeg amp.
When you only can choose one bass, which one will you take?
Always my Stingray.
