When you start bass playing and do you remember your first bass?
I start as a teenager and my first bass was an Fender Precision. It have some scratches now, i got it for 20 years or so and it is still my number one.
What are your influences and which bass players are your favs?
Me and my brother Phiip, who plays drums in Eclipse, startet at the same time listen to Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Judas Priest or Thin Lizzy. The good old stuff everyone knows. Our father plays guitar in the 80ties and he forced us listen to good music. Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy was a big influence for me. I like the way he sings and play solid but melodic bass lines. And he plays Fender Precision, too.
How many basses do you own and what are your favorite models?
I got a few, most Fender and Rickenbackers. I love the Rickenbacker but for Eclipse i think the Fender fits better. It has the perfect sound for Eclipse.
What is about amplification?
On tour i uses preamps and direct outs. It makes it much easier and you got your sound in short time. Especially on festivals is most no time for bringing big amps. I don`t use much effects, a bit of distortion and some compression sometimes, most it is the direct sound of the bass.
Which basses and amps were used on the new album or for recordings?
On the new Album i only use one, a Fender Precision. Most direct to the mixing desk.
When you only can choose one bass, which one will you take?
That is easy. It is still my first bass guitar, the Fender Precision.
